How to choose a makeup sponge blender?

1. First, let’s get to know the material of the sponge. Makeup sponges are divided into natural and synthetic textures. Natural sponges have good water absorption and are suitable for liquid foundation and powder cream; synthetic sponges have good elasticity but insufficient water absorption and are suitable for powder foundations and solid foundations. If you can’t know whether it is natural or synthetic material from the label of the sponge, you can stretch the sponge to see if there is any shiny material inside. This material is gelatin. If there is, this makeup sponge is synthetic.

2. Let’s look at how to identify the quality of makeup sponges. Appropriate thickness and elasticity can make the foundation more docile. Also stretching the sponge, we can see that the holes inside the sponge are deformed. The finer and more uniform these small holes are, the better the elasticity of the sponge will be. Generally speaking, sponges with loose texture are suitable for liquid foundation and powder cream because of their strong water absorption; sponges with small pores and denser are suitable for use with pressed powder. But we should pay attention to the sponge with too large and uneven pores, after several washings, the internal pores will be deformed, which will affect the effect of the base makeup.

3. The last is the maintenance and cleaning of the makeup sponge. Due to the high oil content of base makeup products, too much foundation remaining on the puff will not only affect the uniformity and fit of makeup, but also easily breed bacteria and affect skin health. Therefore, the sponge needs to be cleaned more frequently, and it is advisable to clean it once a week (the puff used for powder cakes can be cleaned once every two weeks). When cleaning, soak in hot water for 5 minutes, then apply soap to the dirt of the sponge, and wash and rub by squeezing. After thoroughly washing off the remaining cleaning products on the sponge with clean water, remove the water by spinning, and finally hang it upright in a cool and ventilated place to dry.
